Tenerife is the largest island of the Canary Islands and along the geography of the island there are many charming villages. Several villages retain a historic old town that are worth visiting during your holiday. During your holiday at Villa Mandi Golf Resort we recommend the most charming villages of Tenerife.
In the north of the island of Tenerife, Garachico is one of the oldest towns and offers you the opportunity to get to know what they are like. Founded at the end of the XV century, its port was a reference point in commercial traffic between Europe and the Spanish colonies in America. In 1706 it suffered a volcanic eruption and was completely destroyed. Nowadays it offers quiet walks through its streets and squares. It has a rich architectural heritage of the XVI and XVII centuries. It is one of the best-preserved and most representative historical and artistic centres in the Canary Islands. Declared an Asset of Cultural Interest in 1994 in the category of Historic Site. In addition, the visit can also be made by natural landscape routes such as the Caleta de Interián, the Chinyero volcano and the cliff of La Culata.
SAN CRISTÓBAL DE LA LAGUNA
This is the first city in the Canary Islands, and the only one to be declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. Its colonial architecture that was built in the XV century without exterior protective walls.
It stands out for the number of churches and historical buildings of religious origin, so it offers many possibilities for historical-artistic visits combined with its exquisite gastronomy. In the heart of the Anaga Rural Park, it is the main nucleus of Anaga. In the northeast of the island, it possesses the charm of the surrounding landscape and, in addition, it maintains the tradition of the ancient villages of Tenerife. The historical values stand out, guaranteed by two Cultural Interest Goods: Church Señora de las Nieves and the hermitage of Santa Catalina. To get to Taganana it is recommended to go through the forest of Las Mercedes, one of the oldest in Europe, and enjoy while descending between the barracks to reach the village. This is the most visited rural village of Tenerife. Situated in the massif of Teno, Masca will surprise you with its well-kept houses and cobbled streets. In the village offers craft shops, bars and restaurants, has also been declared Place of Ethnographic and Historical Interest.

Located in the heart of the Corona Forestal Natural Park and in the foothills of the Teide, it still preserves the essence of the rural villages of Tenerife. Proof that the old customs is preserved are the cultivation of vines. We recommend a visit to the Pino Gordo, the thickest specimen in the Canary Islands with a height of 45.12 meters. It is so wide that it takes nine people to embrace it. After the Drago Milenario de Icod de Los Vinos, it is the most famous tree. The age of the Pino Gordo ranges between 700 and 800 years.
